Box office: Manikarnika collects Rs21 crore in week two, Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga flops


Sonam Kapoor-starrer Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga flopped as it could only get Rs16.50 crore in the first week.

Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi continues to be in the news for controversial reasons. The Kangana Ranaut-starrer made Rs21 crore nett in its second week, as reported by Boxofficeindia.com. The film has Rs77.56 crore nett in the domestic box office collections so far.  

Manikarnika had an average first week with Rs56.56 crore nett.

Made at an estimated budget of over Rs100 crore, Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi was released on 3,000 screens in India.  

The film is co-produced by Zee Studios, Kairos Kontent and Nishant Pitti of EaseMyTrip.com. Manikarnika has a Rs40-crore deal for the combined satellite, music and digital rights. Zee has struck an exclusive deal with Amazon Prime Video for the digital streaming.

Manikarnika has made more news for the fallout between the co-directors Ranaut and Krish. The latter had blamed Ranaut for his exit from the film and also taking over the film with adverse effects.

Meanwhile, Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga, the release from last week, flopped as it could only get Rs16.50 crore in the first week.

Directed by Shelly Chopra Dhar, the queer love story features Sonam Kapoor Ahuja, Anil Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao in lead roles. Produced by Fox Star Studios, Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga is made at an estimated budget of Rs35 crore. The film was released on 1,200 screens in India.

Ek Ladki... and Manikarnika both fell behind to Uri: The Surgical Strike that made Rs29 crore nett in its fourth week. The action thriller, starring Vicky Kaushal, has now made Rs200 crore nett at the box office.
