Although director Rajkumar Hirani’s Sanju saw a drop in collections in the second week, it has managed to rake up a good number in the two-week period. The Ranbir Kapoor-starrer earned Rs89.75 crore in its second week, as per figures shared by Boxofficeindia.com.

The film also features Vicky Kaushal, Manisha Koirala and Dia Mirza.

Sanju’s grand total is now inching towards the coveted Rs300-crore number. The film has earned Rs289.83 crore in total so far.

After earning Rs9 crore at the start of the weekday on Monday, the film saw a slow and gradual drop in the rest of the days and made Rs5.50 crore yesterday [Thursday]. But the numbers are still good enough for a film in the second week.

Not trying to portray Sanjay Dutt as a god: Ranbir Kapoor

In fact, Sanju stands third in the list of highest second week collections of all time by a Hindi film. The film overtook Salman Khan-starrer Bajrangi Bhaijaan (2015), which had made Rs86.28 crore in its second week. The first two positions belong to Aamir Khan’s films — Dangal (2016) and PK (2014), which made Rs111.56 crore and Rs96.37 crore, respectively in week two.

If we consider non-Hindi films, the first position belongs to Baahubali: The Conclusion (2017), whose second week number stood at a mammoth Rs142.52 crore.

Director Shaadi Ali’s Soorma has released today, but the film is not expected to be a big threat for Sanju.
