Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone's action feature Fighter will now be released on 28 September 2023.

Directed by Siddharth Anand, the film will also feature Anil Kapoor. Produced by Viacom18, the film was announced as India's 'first aerial action franchise', implying a sequel to follow.

Hrithik shared the teaser announcement of the new release date for the film on social media late on Wednesday.

The actress also shared the announcement, writing almost nothing other than the release date.

Anand previously directed Bang Bang! (2014) and War (2019), both of which starred Hrithik. The film will mark the actor's first collaboration with Padukone. Incidentally, the actress will be part of Anand's other project, Pathaan, starring Shah Rukh Khan.

Announced back in July 2021, Fighter was scheduled to be released on Republic Day 2023. However, that weekend will be taken over by Pathaan.

In 2021, announcing the project, Anand had said, "Fighter is my most ambitious film yet. This film is our attempt to create not only the first aerial action franchise in India but also put Indian films on the map for action-loving global theatrical audiences."

In addition to Fighter, Hrithik also has the remake of the Tamil thriller Vikram Vedha lined up for release in theatres in 2023, while Padukone has the Indian adaptation of The Intern, along with Project K, in the pipeline.
