Dhanush’s Maaran gets Twitter emoji, eighth Tamil film to get the honour


The Twitter emoji for Maaran was activated today ahead of the launch of the film’s trailer in the evening.

Actor Dhanush’s forthcoming Tamil film Maaran (2022), which will skip theatres and go directly on to the OTT platform Disney+ Hotstar, has become the eighth Tamil film to get a Twitter emoji.

The Twitter emoji for Maaran was activated today ahead of the launch of the film’s trailer this evening.

The other seven Tamil films that had their own Twitter emojis are Vijay's Mersal (2017), Rajinikanth's Kaala (2018), Suriya's NGK (2019), Vijay's Bigil (2019), Rajinikanth's Darbar (2020), Suriya's Soorarai Pottru (2020) and Vijay's Master (2021).

Maaran marks the maiden collaboration between Dhanush and Karthick Naren. In the movie, Dhanush is rumoured to be playing a journalist. The film also stars Malavika Mohanan, who is sharing the screen for the first time with Dhanush.

Seen previously in the Tamil film Jagame Thandhiram (2021), Dhanush will soon commence work on an upcoming trilingual project with filmmaker Sekhar Kammula. The project, which will go on the floors in a few months, also stars Sai Pallavi. He also has a bilingual project, SIR, in the pipeline.

Meanwhile, Dhanush is looking forward to the release of the Netflix film The Gray Man soon.The film, directed by the Russo Brothers, marks the Tamil star's international debut.

Dhanush also has the Tamil films Naane Varuven and Thiruchitrambalam in his kitty. In the former, he has reunited with his filmmaker brother Selvaraghavan after a decade.
