Actor-filmmaker Hemant Dhome’s Marathi movie Jhimma (2021) has completed 75 days in theatres this week. The film was released last year on 19 November and continues to run in theatres across Maharashtra.

Reacting to the rare achievement, Dhome said in a statement, “I am going through various emotions looking at the love Jhimma is receiving from the audience.

"Just like for the audience, the film has been a rollercoaster ride for me, too. We had to announce new release dates for the film quite a few times in the last two years. Despite various obstacles, the film was finally released in theatres. The successful journey from the first to the 75th day was possible only because of the audience. I heartily thank them.”

Jhimma has an ensemble cast of Sonalee Kulkarni, Suhas Joshi, Nirmiti Sawant, Suchitra Bandekar, Kshitee Jog, Sayali Sanjeev, Mrinmayee Godbole, Siddharth Chandekar and Dhome himself. The film is about a trip seven women take to London and what they experience there.

Jhimma's cause has also been helped to an extent by the postponement of a number of big-ticket movies like Jersey, RRR and Radhe Shyam. The Hindi version of the Telugu film Pushpa: The Rise has also benefited from this lack of fresh releases.
