The svelte and tall actress Shilpa Shetty was born on the 8th June, 1975. She was educated in Mumbai from St. Anthony Girls' High School in Chembur and Podar College in Matunga. She was the captain of the volleyball team in school. Her younger sister Shamita Shetty is also an actress. She started her career at an early age (16 years), modelling for Limca in 1991. She didn’t have to wait for long for her Bollywood debut – Baazigar (1993). Though she played the supporting role - portraying a woman murdered by her psychopathic boyfriend – she didn’t go unnoticed by the industry. The film was a huge success. In 1994, her next - Main Khiladi Tu Anari with Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan – was also declared a blockbuster hit. However, she had a rough atch for a while. In 1998, she was seen in Pardesi Babu with Govinda. Her next superhit flm came in 2000 - Dhadkan. After that, she continued to work in films that did well at the box office. In 2004, she showed her versatility with Revathi’s Phir Milenge, where she played a professional who unknowingly contracts HIV. Shetty was seen on television in 2006, where she was one of the judges of a dance reality show named ‘Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa’. In the year 2007, Shilpa was again seen on the screens with Anurag Basu’s ‘Life in a… Metro’ which was successful and it went on to become the first ever Bollywood movie to premiere at the Leicester Square. The actress has also worked in some Tamil, Kannada and Telugu movies. The graceful actress went international in 2007, when she participated and won Celebrity Big Brother 2007. The pretty actress is married to businessman Raj Kundra and has a son with him. The couple owns Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket team Rajasthan Royals. She also turned producer in 2014 with the action film Dishkiyaaoon.
