Actor Nikhil Dwivedi was born to a banker in Allahabad on 25th November, 1978. He acquired his secondary education from Sherwood College, Nainital and later earned his Master’s degree in Business Administration from Symbiosis, Pune. Coming from a middle-class family, his parents had aspirations of a well-paying corporate job for him. And Dwivedi did fulfill the dream when he bagged a corporate job through his college placement programme.

However, he eventually decided to pursue his dream of becoming an actor and made his debut with the film My Name is Anthony Gonsalves (2008) opposite Amrita Rao and Mithun Chakraborty. Initially, he hid the fact that he was shooting for a film from his parents. But they could not have been more proud when he was nominated for the Filmfare Award for the Best Male Debut for the movie. The fresh face and impressive performance got him instant recognition in the industry.

He bagged his next film with Mani Ratnam, starring Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan and Vikram, Ravana (2010). It was based on the epic Ramayana and he played the role of Laxman in the film.

He impressed with his performances in other movies like Basra (2010), Shor in the City (2010) and Hate Story (2011). In 2014, the movie Tamanchey (2014) saw him play the lead with Richa Chadha, another talented, rising actress.

The actor married the prominent model and actress Gowri Pandit in 2011.
