Ali Zafar Biography

He studied at the Government College of Lahore and the National College of Arts where he earned his degree in fine arts. Zafar has been a talented artist from a young age. He made his first comic book at the age of eight and even worked as a sketch artist briefly in Lahore.
The musician made his debut with the album Huqa Pani, which was released in Pakistan in 2003 and worldwide in 2005. The album sold over 600,000 copies worldwide and became an instant hit. Ali has displayed his versatility by singing a range of songs from pop to folk to semi-classical and his versatility earned him a huge fan following. Zafar also tried his hand at acting while he was still in Pakistan, starting off as a television actor. But in Pakistan, he found his calling as a musician and became one of the most popular singers.
He realised his dreams of becoming an actor with his debut Hindi film Tere Bin Laden (2010) and later in the critically acclaimed film London, Paris, New York (2012). In 2012, he received the Dadasaheb Phalke Academy Award in a ceremony held in India, for Best New Talent and also received the Superstar of Tomorrow award at the Stardust Awards for his performance in Mere Brother Ki Dulhan (2011). His next film was director David Dhawan’s Chashme Baddoor (2013), a romantic adult-comedy film which was a big commercial success, adding another hit movie to Zafar's filmography. He recently also appeared in the sequel to his successful debut called Tere Bin Laden: Dead Or Alive (2016).
