Aligarh

Inspired by the real incident of Professor Siras' trial following a sting operation that outed him as engaging in a consensual, homosexual encounter, Aligarh is a story that delves deep into the issues of witch hunting and demonisation of homosexuality. The reputed professor finds that his life changes after he loses his position and respectability when caught getting intimate with a young rickshaw puller. A complete invasion of his privacy leads to despair. The university and people around him condemn him, yet he believes that consensual love and passion must not be a reason for ostracism.
