Ab Dilli Dur Nahin

The film is set in 1951. Wife Bela (Sulochana Latkar) and son Rattan (Master Romi) are very dear to Hariram (Motilal). Despite being a poor labourer, he goes all the way to shower them with creature comforts, even if that means being in debt. On the night of Diwali, Hariram's wife dies of snakebite. Grief-stricken, Hariram takes to alcohol and loses his job owing to irregular attendance. One night, back at home, the drunk Hariram discovers that his son has been beaten up by Bhola Seth, whom he owes money. Hariram nearly kills the seth but is stopped by Mukund (Anwar Hussain). Later that night, however, Bhola Seth is found dead. Hariram is arrested and convicted. Ghasita (Yakub), a pickpocket, informs Rattan that his father is innocent. The two set out to free Hariram, who is on death row in Delhi, even as the real culprit tries hard to stop them.
