Disney+ Hotstar introduces Kajol as The Good Wife, see video

Kajol will star in Disney+ Hotstar’s The Good Wife — Pyaar, Kanoon, Dhoka, an official remake of the American drama The Good Wife, starring Julianna Margulies.

In July, the actress had revealed that she would be making her web-series debut with the streaming platform. She previously acted in the Netflix feature Tribhanga (2021), directed by Renuka Shahane.

The remake, which will be helmed by Suparn Verma, features Kajol as a lawyer. The original CBS drama ran for seven seasons from 2009 to 2016. The series featured Margulies as Alicia Florrick, a stay-at-home mother, who returns to the law, after her politician husband is jailed after a political scandal involving corruption and sex.

Produced by Banijay Asia, the first look video shows the actress walking confidently across an office and addressing the audience, “Shuru karein? [Shall we begin?]”

“The beauty of OTT platforms is that they give creators and actors an opportunity to reinvent and experiment with different formats, and with Disney+ Hotstar’s The Good Wife, that’s exactly what I got,” Kajol told Deadline.com.

The actress is also working with Revathy in the directorial venture, Salaam Venky, in the role of a mother who fought against all odds.
