Bobby Deol announces his next film Shlok - The Desi Sherlock

Bobby Deol, who was seen in an unusual avatar in Prakash Jha's first foray into the digital space with the Aashram series, has announced his next film, the spy thriller Shlok - The Desi Sherlock, directed by Kunal Kohli.

The film also marks the acting debut of singer-songwriter Ananya Birla, who is the daughter of industrialist Kumar Mangalam Birla, chairman of the Aditya Birla Group.

Although Deol has acted in suspense thrillers during his career, with his film Gupt (1997) recently marking 25 years of its release, playing a spy would be a first for the actor.

The actor has been experimenting with different kinds of roles, playing Baba Nirala, a seemingly pious character who is evil to the core in Aashram, a police instructor trying to get new recruits on the right path in Class of '83 (2020), and a ruthless mercenary with a cause in Love Hostel (2022).

Deol shared a picture of the film script on Instagram, saying that it was the first day of shoot.

Kohli, who is known for his films Mujhse Dosti Karoge! (2002), Hum Tum (2004), Fanaa (2006), had recently directed the series Ramyug (2021) for MX Player. He also shared an image of the script of the film, asking people for their love and blessings.
