The release of Shreyas Talpade and Mukta Barve-starrer Marathi movie Aapdi Thaapdi (2022) has been advanced by a few days. The film was earlier due to released on 7 October but it will now be released in theatres on 5 October.
Aapdi Thaapdi stars Talpade and Barve opposite each other for the first time. The film also features Nandu Madhav, Sandeep Pathak, Navin Prabhakar and child artiste Khushi Hajare.
Along with the announcement, the makers have also come out with the film’s first poster. It features a funny image of Barve trying to strangle Talpade, all in good humour. The rest of the characters and their expressions make it clear that the film is a funny and light-hearted affair.
The image of the house, lamp and flying rooster in the poster indicates that the film is based in a village. The tagline of the film says [translated], “Watch this family movie with your family.”
Aapdi Thaapdi marks the directorial debut for Anand Karir.
The film will see Talpade return to Marathi cinema after Nikhil Mahajan’s Baji (2015). Following this film, he had made special appearances in Marathi films like Baghtos Kay… Mujra Kar (2017), Wedding Cha Shinema (2019), which starred Barve in the lead, and Prawaas (2020).
Aapdi Thaapdi will clash at the box office with the historical film Shivpratap Garudzep (2022), which stars Dr Amol Kolhe as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
