The original Hindi version of Ayan Mukerji’s Brahmastra: Part One Shiva (2022) saw a fall in numbers on its first Tuesday. After scoring Rs14 crore nett on Monday, 12 September, the movie earned Rs11 crore nett on the following day, as per figures shared by the trade website BoxOfficeIndia.com.
Brahmastra Part One: Shiva review – Ranbir Kapoor’s superhero film suffers from second half syndrome
Despite the drop, the numbers of the film starring Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Amitabh Bachchan and Mouni Roy are still decent.
Brahmastra’s total in the original language currently stands at Rs128.50 crore nett. The film has earned 16.75 crore nett from its dubbed versions in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada. Hence, its grand total is an impressive Rs145.75 crore nett.
But the high collection numbers does not yet certify Brahmastra as a hit at the box office. As per our sources, the film is made at a mammoth cost of Rs400 crore; it still has a ways to go before turning a profit. However, in a year that has been terrible for the Hindi film industry, the film’s box-office performance has been face-saving and like a ray of hope to both fans and insiders alike.
Whether Brahmastra will reach the Rs200 crore mark will depend on its performance on its second Friday. Although a line-up of Hindi films is due to release on that day, none of them have the buzz to be any kind of threat to Mukerji’s film.
