Tusshar Kapoor, who has not been seen on the big screen for a while, made his debut as a producer with the Akshay Kumar-starrer Laxmii (2020). The actor has announced the release date of his upcoming film Maarrich (2022), which is produced by him under his banner Tusshar Entertainment House, and will also feature him in a pivotal role.

Last year, it was announced that the film will also star veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah, a unique casting for sure. Written and directed by Dhruv Lather, Maarrich is a whodunit thriller where Kapoor will be seen playing a police officer.

Along with the release date, the makers revealed an intriguing logo of the film with the message - Catch the Evil!

The blood-spattered logo offers a glimpse into the menacing thriller. Kapoor's ominous voiceover states that people search for God, while he is search for a monster. Another indistinguishable voice intones that the now he has been caught in Maarich's territory. The title announcement video hints of a clash between Kapoor's police officer and this unknown culprit.

Speaking about his dual role as actor and producer, Kapoor said, “This film is very close to my heart for multiple reasons. Maarrich is my second film after Laxmii as a producer and I am also going to be reuniting with Naseeruddin Shah saab after a very long time. The film has challenged me as an actor on many levels as it’s very different from the work that I have been associated with earlier, I hope the audiences like this new shade of mine."

The film is presented by Tusshar Entertainment House, in association with NH Studios. Kapoor is joined by Narendra Hirawat, Shreyans Hirawat as producer and Girish Johar and Priyank V Jain as co-producers.

Maarrich is due to be released theatrically on 9 December.
