Raj Acharya made his directorial debut with the first season of the Hindi web-series Avrodh: The Siege Within (2020). He is back now with the second season of the SonyLIV show produced by Applause Entertainment and Juggernaut Productions.

The first season was about the Uri attack of 2016 and how the Indian Army avenged the incident. Avrodh (Season 2) is also about India’s fight with Pakistan-inflicted terrorism, but it is inspired from another incident that took place the same year. It is adapted from the ninth chapter of Shiv Aroor and Rahul Singh's book India's Most Fearless Part Two titled Just Tell Me When to Begin Sir.

After the authorities learn about a possible attack on Indian soil using black money, the prime minister (Dr Mohan Agashe) demonetizes high value currency notes. But this does not put an end to India’s woes.

The second season has a different cast with the exception of Neeraj Kabi and Anant Mahadevan. The first one saw veteran actor Vikram Gokhale play the prime minister. As Dr Agashe appears only for a brief moment in the teaser, it is difficult to gauge how he has performed in the role.

The show also sees Sanjay Suri in the role of a terrorist while Kabi continues to play the national security adviser.

Despite its subject, the first season of the show managed to steer clear of anything resembling government propaganda. It will be interesting to see if the makers have practised the same approach in the new season.

Written by Bijesh Jayrajan and Sudeep Nigam, Avrodh (Season 2) also stars Abir Chatterjee, Aahana Kumra, Krishna Hebbale, Rajesh Khattar and Vijay Krishnan. Watch the teaser below and let us know if you are keen to watch this show:
