John Abraham's journey into the world of action entertainers has taken him deep into sci-fi territory with Lakshya Raj Anand's Attack: Part 1.
The film, which will be released in two parts, will see the actor play a soldier with bionic enhancements trying to stem a terror attack.
Produced by Jayantilal Gada's Pen Entertainment and Ajay Kapoor Productions, Attack also stars Jacqueline Fernandez, Rakul Preet Singh, Ratna Pathak Shah and Prakash Raj.
The trailer begins with John quoting Mark Twain, stating, "The two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why."
The initial visuals set the backdrop of the happy life that John's soldier leads with his mother (Ratna Pathak Shah) and girlfriend (Jacqueline Fernandez). Things take a turn for the worse when John is tasked with foiling a terror attack. With his bionic enhancements, he takes down the terrorists but he is not entirely unfazed. The super-soldier is not one to blindly follow orders, nor one to step back from challenges. Whether or not he will be undone by his hubris remains to be seen.
The trailer is short, sharp, quite like the gunfire from Abraham and his team. While it reveals the crux of the story, a number of the details have been left out. The clip has also been cut in a musical manner. The action looks impressive, and the immersive use of technology is rare for Hindi cinema.
Considering how Hindi cinema has mostly failed to deal with science fiction stories well, and it will be interesting to see how Lakshya Raj Anand handles Attack.
Speaking about the film, John said in a release, "Attack is a homegrown concept of JA entertainment and is the kind of storytelling we understand and curate. The action scenes are unparalleled and compliment the story beautifully. There are so many surprises in Attack that we have protected and haven’t yet revealed in the teaser and trailers since my confidence is high in what our team has achieved and what the audiences are about to witness on the big screen. I am glad we are all set to release on 1 April!"
Director Lakshya Raj Anand said, “Attack is a very special project for me as it’s my ode to action films that I’ve enjoyed through my life and now giving those same tropes my own take makes it super special. But above all, we’ve made this film with a fantastic team of very passionate people who have given their blood, sweat, and tears. So I am glad the movie-going audience is back and they’re going to witness our hard work and perseverance on the big screen."
Attack: Part 1 will be released in theatres on 1 April 2022.
