Shreyas Talpade to play cricketer once again in Disney+ Hotstar film Kaun Pravin Tambe


The biopic will tell the story of the sportsman, who made his debut at the age of 41.

Actor Shreyas Talpade, who played a bowler in his maiden film Iqbal (2005), will return to the pitch in his next film, Kaun Pravin Tambe, which has been directed by Jayprad Desai.

The film tells the story of cricketer Pravin Tambe, who made his debut at the age of 41.

Kaun Pravin Tambe is being backed by Shital Bhatia and Sudip Tiwari's Bootroom Productions along with Friday Filmworks and Fox Star Studios. The makers shared the announcement poster of the film, with Talpade's Pravin Tambe standing alongside Indian cricket greats Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Yuvraj Singh and MS Dhoni. 

The titular leg spinner was an unknown when he made his debut in the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2012 representing the  Rajasthan Royals team.

In 2013, Tambe went on to make his Ranji Trophy debut for Mumbai and played against Jharkhand. 

In 2014, at the Design For Change Conference, now Indian coach Rahul Dravid had praised Tambe's determination and persistence.

The film will also feature Ashish Vidyarthi, Parambrata Chatterjee and Anjali Patil.

Speaking to the news agency ANI, Talpade said, "Seventeen years after playing the lead in Iqbal, I feel very fortunate that I am portraying Pravin on screen. The role and the story provided me with a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and I loved and treasured every minute of filming." 

The film will be released on Disney+Hotstar on 1 April 2022.
