Quota: The Reservation (2022), written and directed by Sanjivv Jaiiswwal, is due to be released theatrically on 8 April.

The film, inspired by real-life incidents of discrimination against Dalit students, was earlier supposed to be streamed on BabaPlay. Quota follows a first-year Dalit student who undergoes severe discrimination from an upper-caste student, spurring him to take a drastic step. His actions lead to an uprising among Dalit students who fight for justice.

In a statement, Jaiiswwal said, “We are happy to announce to be releasing our film on big screens since the story is to be known by the nation. As a maker getting concepts that will help us to change for better is what I have constantly worked towards. We aim to offer entertainment with meaning and purpose and to spread Baba Saheb's ideas across the nation (sic).”

Anirudh Dave, who plays the oppressed Dalit student Saurabh Rawat, stated, “As an actor, to get an opportunity to be a part of a story which is based on a real incident comes with huge responsibility and all I hope is for the audience to connect to the story and evolve with time the way we have so far.”

The film also stars Garrima Kapoor, Aaditya Om, Uday Veer Singh and Rajiev Dinkar.
