PIFF 2022: Shankar Arjun Dhotre's Potra and Nikhil Mahajan's Godavari win big


While the former won the Best Marathi Film award as well as Best Actress and Best Screenplay awards, the latter bagged the Best Director award.

The 20th Pune International Film Festival came to a close on 10 March with the announcement of awards and felicitation of winners.

First-time filmmaker Shankar Arjun Dhotre's Potra and Nikhil Mahajan's Godavari came out on top in the Marathi section, winning three awards each.

Potra won big, bagging the Sant Tukaram Best International Marathi Film Award while Chakuli Pralhad Devkar and Dhotre took home the Best Actress and Best Screenplay awards respectively.

Nikhil Mahajan bagged the Best Director award for his drama Godavari. The film's lensman Shamin Kulkarni won the Best Cinematography award, which he shared with Ramesh Bhosale for Niwas. AV Prafullachandra bagged the Jury Special Mention award for the music of Godavari. 

Came up with Godavari's story after making Pune 52: Nikhil Mahajan

Dilip Prabhavalkar won the Best Actor Award for his performance as an elderly man seeking euthanasia with his wife in Anant Mahadevan's Aata Vel Zaali.

In the international section, Selman Nacar's Between Two Dawns won the top prize of Best International Film while Peter Kerekes bagged the award of Best Director for Slovakian-Czech-Ukrainian film 107 Mothers.
