Panchayat star Jitendra Kumar’s next is the Netflix feature Jaadugar (2022), a sports dramedy about a magician named Meenu. The actor’s character lacks all athletic ability and when he joins the local football team in his town Neemuch, it becomes a question of love and honour.

Meenu desires to marry Disha (Arushi Sharma) but first, he and the team must win in the competitive inter-colony football tournament. Will he be lucky in both love and sport?

The popular actor, who has worked in the films Gone Kesh (2019) and Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan (2020), spoke about the training he underwent for the film, which has been directed by Sameer Saxena. He said, “I began training for the magic tricks back in November 2020 and it was quite a long and tedious journey which lasted for around a month and a half. My trainer strongly advised me that until I did a show, I wouldn't pass. This was back when the lockdown still prevailed, so we organized a virtual Zoom show.”

He went on to say, “I had meticulously set up the lights and props to ensure people would get tricked and I’ll pass, well it worked! I successfully tricked them with a lot of music as well. Doing the show definitely gave me a confidence boost and helped me hone my skills better.”

“Following this, I did two additional training sessions and later I did a show on a stage along with props, and also performed a street show with a close group. I realized when the audience is small, there are no lights and no music to aid you and you have to trick people, which is tougher as people can catch things.”

Produced by Posham Pa Pictures and Chalkboard Entertainment, Jaadugar also stars Javed Jaaferi as a football coach. The family entertainer is due to be premiered on Netflix on 15 July.
