Director Rohan Sen has announced his upcoming film Subho Bijoya, starring Kaushik Ganguly, Churni Ganguly, Bonny Sengupta, Koushani Mukerjee, and Kharaj Mukherjee.

A poster of the film was launched at the announcement event, graced by the cast and crew of the film. Producer and singer Amrita De will also be playing a crucial role in the film.

Set to the backdrop of Durga Puja, the film tells the story of a joint family of North Kolkata. With time, the family gets fragmented, but an incident brings back all the members together. Relationships get reassessed and what happens next forms the crux of the story.

Subho Bijoya will feature the powerhouse actor-director couple, Kaushik Ganguly and Churni Ganguly for the first time in a film. Offscreen couple Bonny Sengupta and Koushani Mukherjee, who are known for their appearances in masala movies, will be seen in different avatars as well.

“I loved the storyline. Set in the backdrop of Durga Puja, the film will inspire the audience to revaluate relationships with their family and friends,” Kaushik said.

“Rohan is a young filmmaker, and this is already his third film, which is a commendable feat in itself. My best wishes are with him,” he added. “He has asked me to appear in a very important role in the film and I am thankful for the opportunity. For the first time, I will appear with my long-time partner and colleague Churni in a film. We are looking forward to seeing how we ace the role of an onscreen couple too.”

According to Churni, the young director’s ability to conceive a compact story, with interesting characters, intrigued her enough to be part of the film. “I think it is our responsibility to execute his ideas. I want to do my part to help Rohan progress further towards achieving his dream. I am quite excited with the prospect of working with such a young team," the actress shared.

Bijoya Doshomi is the last of the four-day long festival. On the auspicious day, people greet each other and with a heavy heart, begin to count days for another year for the Puja.  According to Koushani, “This film is the perfect antidote for the pensive mood of Bijoya Doshomi. We are excited to immerse ourselves in the Puja vibes at the shooting floor before Durga Puja takes place in October.”

Sengupta, on the other hand, feels the ensemble cast of actors from both commercial and parallel films is the special feature of the film.

"The film is set on the festivities of Durga Puja but the story also contains emotional conflicts between the characters," the producer said. "I am hoping to churn out best of the efforts from the entire cast and crew team of the film. Being a singer, I have given special attention to the music of the film. Anindya Chatterjee, Ranajoy Bhattacharjee and Savvy will be in charge of the music department."

Subho Bijoya will go on the floors at the end of July. The makers, Kichukhon Entertainment, are looking forward to release the film after Durga Puja in October.
