Berlinale 2022: Payal Kapadia named on international short film jury

Filmmaker Payal Kapadia joins Italian artiste Rosa Barba and German short-film expert Reinhard W Wolf on the international short film jury at the Berlin International Film Festival.
They will go through 21 short films in competition to decide the Golden Bear for Best Short Film, the Silver Bear Jury Prize (Short Film) and the Berlin Short Film Candidate for the European Film Awards.

Last year, Kapadia’s debut feature documentary A Night Of Knowing Nothing had its world premiere at the Quinzaine des Réalisateurs section at the Cannes Festival. It won the L’Œil d’Or as Best Documentary Film at Cannes and the Amplify Voices award at the 46th edition of the Toronto International Film Festival.
Filmmaker M Night Shyamalan will be heading the international jury as president for the 72nd edition. He will be joined by filmmakers Karim Aïnouz, Anne Zohra Berrached, Tsitsi Dangarembga, Ryûsuke Hamaguchi, producer Saïd Ben Saïd and actress Connie Nielsen on the jury.
The German festival is being held as a hybrid event from 10 to 20 February 2022. The Hindi film Gangubai Kathiawadi (2022), starring Alia Bhatt and directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, will be having its world premiere in the special gala section.
