The trailer of Abhay Pannu's web-series Rocket Boys captures the dreams, ambition and passion that spawned India's space and atomic programmes.
Produced by Nikkhil Advani's Emmay Entertainment and Roy Kapur Films, the show will be streamed on SonyLIV from 4 February.
Vikram Sarabhai (Ishwak Singh) is a young student at the University of Cambridge, who dreams of building his own rocket. Meanwhile, Homi Bhabha (Jim Sarbh) is a professor who is enamoured by the power of physics. The dawn of India's independence sees these powerful young minds come together. This was, of course, a time when man had not ventured into space and television was still a pipe dream in India.
Whether it is the glamorous romance between Vikram Sarabhai and his future wife Mrinalini Sarabhai (Regina Cassandra) or the suavity of the nuclear physicist, the trailer is packed with a sense of adventure.
Also depicted is the tenuous relationship between the two ambitious personalities. While Sarabhai wished to develop a space programme, Bhabha was among those who realized the potential of atomic power. This set them on different paths, which makes for an intriguing watch. The trailer also holds a surprise at the end, which is worth waiting for.
