A biopic has been announced on television host and actor Kapil Sharma. The project will be directed by Mrighdeep Singh Lamba, who is known for his Fukrey franchise, and produced by Mahaveer Jain and Lyca Productions.

The announcement was made by veteran trade analyst Taran Adarsh on Twitter. He also shared a picture of Sharma, Lamba and Jain.

Born and brought up in Amritsar, Sharma migrated to Mumbai at the start of the new millennium to try his hand at comedy. He first gained recognition as a contestant on various television comedy shows and later started hosting such programmes. He currently hosts The Kapil Sharma Show.

Sharma first appeared on celluloid in Mumbai Se Aaya Mera Dost (2003) where he made a cameo. He then played a supporting role in Anees Bazmee’s It’s My Life (2020), which stars Harman Baweja, Genelia Deshmukh and Nana Patekar. Although the film went on the floors in 2008, it was released recently. The comedian also played one of the 51 comic actors in Sunil Pal’s movie Bhavnao Ko Samjho (2010)

But Sharma made his debut as a leading man in Abbas-Mustan’s Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon (2015). Following this, he played the lead in the historical drama film Firangi (2017)
