The Marathi period drama hasn't been affected by the release of the Sanjay Leela Bhansali movie.
Box office: Gangubai Kathiawadi has an impressive first weekend, Pawankhind's good run continues

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s period melodrama Gangubai Kathiawadi has had a successful first weekend at the box office.
The Alia Bhatt-starrer opened at an impressive Rs9.75 crore nett and went on the earn Rs12.50 crore and Rs15.25 crore on Saturday and Sunday respectively, as per figures shared by BoxOfficeIndia.com.
The film has done well in metros, which was expected. But, as per the trade portal, it has surpassed expectations at smaller centres such as Latur, Amravati, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Indore and Gwalior.
As per Cinestaan.com's trade sources, Gangubai Kathiawadi was made on a sizeable budget of Rs110 crore. Its total currently stands at a formidable Rs37.50 crore.
The film, which has been well received and is receiving good word-of-mouth publicity, also saw a good start today despite it being a Monday. It will also benefit from the Mahashivratri holiday. Hence, it has a good chance of breaking even.
Gangubai Kathiawadi has also become the top Hindi opener in the United Kingdom in recent times as it amassed 2,45,000 pounds in the first weekend, surpassing the 2,10,574-pound tally of Sooryavanshi (2021).
Meanwhile, the Marathi war film Pawankhind is also going great guns at the box office. As per veteran trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the Digpal Lanjekar-directed film's overall total is Rs16.71 crore.
The film managed to reach this figure despite the 50% occupancy rule that is still being imposed in Maharashtra.
