Hemant Dhome's film Jhimma (2021) has been one of the more talked about Marathi movies in recent times. Though the film was released on 19 November last year, it continues to weave its magic at the box office, delivering numbers unprecedented for a Marathi film whose protagonists are all women. According to the producers, the film has so far made Rs15 crore nett at the domestic box office.

Jhimma review: Long-drawn but entertaining film that follows all the clichés of the genre

Now, the film, which is seen to offer a complete treat for audiences, has completed 100 days in theatres, a rare feat for any film in today's times. What makes the feat even more impressive is that the film weathered a surge in COVID-19 cases in Maharashtra in December and January and has continued to draw viewers to cinema halls long after it was released online as well.

Expressing her gratitude, the film's producer, actress Kshitee Jog, said in a statement, "Today our film Jhimma completed 100 days in theatres. The main thing is that this movie opened the doors of cinemas for Marathi films after the lockdown. It is a matter of pride that Jhimma has been in theaters for more than three months now and given tough competition to Bollywood and Hollywood films. Our film is still being discussed on social media. I would like to thank the whole team of Jhimma and the audience."

Produced by Crazy Few Films and Chalchitra Company, Jhimma revolves around seven women, played by Suhas Joshi, Kshitee Jog, Sonalee Kulkarni, Nirmiti Sawant, Sayali Sanjeev, Mrinmayee Godbole and Suchitra Bandekar, who head to the UK to get away from it all and discover themselves during the trip.
