The trailer of Eternally Confused And Eager For Love (2022), the Netflix series that was announced yesterday, depicts Ray (Vihaan Samat) awkwardly navigating life and the dating scene, with the help of a very special friend Wiz, who voiced by Jim Sarbh.

Produced by Excel Media and Tiger Baby, the English-language series also stars Rahul Bose, Suchitra Pillai, Dalai and Ankur Rathee. Samat was part of the ensemble cast of another Netflix series Mismatched (2020) which returns later this year.

The socially awkward Ray tries his hand at dating but fails miserably. He draws sympathy from his parents (Bose and Pillai) who constantly needle him about his life. But he has ‘help’ from Wiz, an old wise-looking wizard, who is a stand-in for his inappropriate inner voice.

Will Ray ever find love? Will his parents get off his back? Eternally Confused And Eager For Love is a modern take on young adulthood in India. The show has an international sensibility and explores the overwhelming transition period that one has to start taking their own decisions.

The series is based on writer-director Rahul Nair’s own experiences. The first-time filmmaker stated, “The series is certainly a personal story – returning from college in America, I found the dating scene in Mumbai to be much like every other urban metropolis, with some unique Indian elements, of course (namely, how deeply involved parents can get in your love life!). With numerous dating apps, a vibrant nightlife, and opportunities at every corner, I found that sometimes it can all become… a little too much.”

Eternally Confused And Eager For Love, which is backed by Ritesh Sidhwani, Farhan Akhtar, Zoya Akthar and Reema Kagti will be premiered on Netflix on 18 March.
