The sequel to the Punjabi-language feature, Laung Laachi (2018) is the upcoming Laung Laachi 2 (2022), starring Amberdeep Singh, Neeru Bajwa and Ammy Virk.

First-look poster of Laung Laachi 2 unveiled

The trailer of the upcoming begins with Neeru Bajwa expressing her wish that she was born at the time of undivided India, when Punjab was one. Revisiting the time of Partition, she imagines how people had to leave their homes overnight, while complete strangers took over their properties.

The world of imagination becomes reality as Amberdeep Singh and Neeru Bajwa find themselves transported into this historical past. Although the two seem to be role-playing, a twist takes place when Ammy Virk enters the imagination, and well, the picture.

The dreamscape becomes more complex when Ammy Virk comes in as someone who suspects that Amberdeep Singh is not a Muslim and thus, does not belong in the newly formed nation, Pakistan. A series of slip-ups makes Virk suspicious of the inhabitants of the old house. There are glimpses of violence that are presented as well, suggesting that the film may not be all about hearts and roses after all.

The historical setting is interspersed with scenes where Ammy Virk and Amberdeep Singh are dressed in Western attire and Neeru Bajwa, is like a princess, being wooed by the two men. The trailer provides insights into what the plot might be but it remains to be seen how the film will weave these different strands together.

The scenes are peppered with jokes and funny situations, which makes it evident that this is yet another romantic comedy.

Laung Laachi 2, written and directed by Amberdeep Singh, is slated to be released in theatres on 19 August.
