Hemant Dhome, as a filmmaker, presented the successful Jhimma (2021) in front of audiences on 19 November last year. He returns with his next directorial venture Sunny (2022), which will release in the same week this year. Starring Lalit Prabhakar in the titular role, the film is due to be released in theatres on 18 November.

Presented by Crazy Few Films and Planet Marathi and produced by Chalchitra Company, the film is written by Iravati Karnik, who was also the screenplay and dialogue writer for Jhimma. Actress Tejaswini Pandit has co-produced the film along with Santosh Khare.

The makers haven’t revealed the subject of the film but going by Lalit’s look, and the feel of the poster, it seems that the film will be a light-hearted saga where the actor is playing a happy-go-lucky character in a story set in England.

“After attaining such high amount of success with Jhimma, I have developed a different kind of bond with the audience,” Dhome said in a statement. “It is because of this relation that we have now brought the film Sunny. We are happy to bring a story that will make people feel better about their lives in front of the audience. I hope people will love this film as much as they loved Jhimma.”
