Tovino Thomas, Nimisha Sajayan start shoot of anti-war movie Adrishya Jayakangal

Tovino Thomas and Nimisha Sajayan have begun shoot on the anti-war Malayalam movie Adrishya Jalakangal. Directed by Dr Biju Kumar Damodaran, the film is produced by Ellanar Films, Mythri Movie Makers, and Tovino Thomas Productions. 

Thomas said that wars often become a turmoil for those who have no part to play in it in the first place. “Oftentimes war is the consequence of corrupt systems and a lust for power. Amidst such nuisance, innocent citizens get caught in the crossfire and that is a sad reality for many,” the actor-producer said in a statement. His Netflix superhero movie Minnal Murali (2021) made waves recently as it was appreciated by both audiences and critics alike.

Director Damodaran added, “Adrishya Jalakangal is an attempt to look at the social menace of war from a common man’s point of view and be a strong artistic signature against war.” 

Producer Radhika Lavu feels that this sensitive topic needs deft handling. “To finally get the ball rolling on the production side of things feels great,” she said in a statement. “The social issue at the core of this film is very close to my heart and it is crucial that we address it with the respect and gravitas it deserves.”
