After essaying the role of real-life aerospace engineer Nambi Narayanan in Rocketry: The Nambi Effect (2022), R Madhvan will now be seen in director Kookie Gulati’s hostage thriller Dhokha Round D Corner (2022), which is set in contemporary Mumbai.

Going by the film’s teaser, Dhokha is about a terrorist (Aparshakti Khurana) forcefully entering an upper-middle class residence where a housewife (Khushalii Kumar) is alone at home. He takes her hostage, while a large number of police personnel surround the apartment.

The woman’s husband (Madhavan), who is very worried, tells the cops that his wife is suffering from delusional disorder. Back at home, the woman forms a bond with the terrorist and tells him the story of her life with her husband.

This is one of those teasers that tries to become a full-fledged trailer. But despite this, the film appears interesting. With the angle about the woman’s mental condition and the bond she forms with the terrorist, this doesn’t appear like a regular hostage film. The teaser also indicates that the narrative will reveal a lot of secrets.

After appearing in some music videos and short films, Khushalii Kumar makes her feature film debut with Dhokha Round D Corner and she appears suited for the part. She is the sister of T-Series head honcho Bhushan Kumar.

Madhavan looks good in the role that has two shades. Khurana impresses in the role of the terrorist, despite limited screen time. Fresh from the success of The Kashmir Files (2022), Darshan Kumaar plays a police officer.

Produced by Bhushan Kumar and Krishan Kumar of T-Series, along with Dharmendra Sharma and Vikrant Sharma, Dhokha Round D Corner is due to be released in theatres on 23 September.
