Neha Sharma and Amit Sial's movie Aafat-e-Ishq has been ready for some time but hasn't been released because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The makers have now announced that it will see the light of day on 29 October on the over-the-top (OTT) platform Zee5.
Directed by Indrajit Nattoji, the film is the official Hindi adaptation of the Hungarian movie Liza: The Fox-Fairy (2015). It also stars Deepak Dobriyal, Ila Arun and Namit Das.
A note from Zee5 said, “Played by actor Neha Sharma, Aafat-e-Ishq is the story of a woman’s quest for true love when she finds out, to her horror, that all her suitors start dying in freak fatal accidents. Is she just unfortunate or an incarnation of a Laal Pari, a mythical cursed spirit, with whom the men who fall in love die soon afterwards?”
The film sees Nattoji return to the director's chair after more than a decade. His last film, Aagey Se Right (2009), starred Shreyas Talpade and Kay Kay Menon.
With Aafat-e-Ishq, Sial will be seen in a movie after a long line of web projects. Before the release of his show Maharani, the actor had shared with Cinestaan his criteria for signing projects, saying, “It’s an organic process. Whenever someone offers me a project, it’s necessary that it should resonate with me. It’s a feeling, so it has to be something organic.”
Correction, 12 October 2021: An earlier version of this report misspelt the director's last name as Nattooji.
