Coronavirus update: Urmila Matondkar tests positive for COVID-19


The 47-year-old actress and politician, who is currently in home quarantine, took to social media to share her diagnosis.

Actress and politician Urmila Matondkar has tested positive for COVID-19. The 47-year-old revealed in an Instagram post yesterday that she has contracted the virus and is currently in home quarantine. The actress also requested those who had come in contact with her recently to get themselves tested.

"I've tested positive for COVID-19. I'm fine and have isolated myself in home quarantine. Requesting everyone who came in contact with me to get tested immediately," Matondkar wrote. She also urged her fans and followers to stay safe during the upcoming festivities.

Matondkar, who is married to Mohsin Akhtar, unsuccessfully contested the 2019 Lok Sabha election on a Congress ticket. She later joined the Shiv Sena, which heads the ruling coalition in Maharashtra, last year.

Matondkar was last seen in a full-fledged film role in the Marathi movie Ajoba (2014), where she played the role of a  wildlife conservationist. She made a guest appearance in the Marathi movie Smile Please (2019).
