Simultaneous release on six OTT platforms for Parvathy and Biju Menon's Aarkkariyam
Mumbai - 19 May 2021 15:00 IST
Cinematographer-turned-director Sanu John Varughese’s Aarkkariyam is being released simultaneously on as many as six streaming platforms today.
The film, starring Biju Menon, Parvathy Thiruvothu and Sharaf U Dheen, has been released on Amazon Prime Video, FilMe, First Shows, Neestream, Roots Video and Cave.
Scripted jointly by Sanu, Rajesh Ravi and Arun Janardhanan, the movie's story revolves around the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic last year and the countrywide lockdown announced by prime minister Narendra Modi.
Parvathy and Sharaf U Dheen play a married couple who travel from Mumbai to Kerala just before the lockdown is imposed. Biju Menon essays the role of Parvathy’s father, a retired teacher.
The film was released in theatres on 1 April and received positive reviews, but the screening was soon halted in view of the rising tide of COVID-19 cases in Kerala, like in other parts of India.
Aarkkariyam was jointly produced by filmmaker Aashiq Abu’s OPM Dream Mill and Santhosh T Kuruvilla’s Moonshot Entertainment.
