Subhrajit Mitra's Avijatrik selected for 24th Shanghai International Film Festival


Starring Arjun Chakraborty, the film will compete for the Golden Goblet Award in different major categories.

Subhrajit Mitra’s upcoming film Avijatrik has been selected for the International Film Panorama section of the 24th Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF). Starring Arjun Chakraborty, the film will compete for the Golden Goblet Award in different major categories and have its Chinese premiere as well.

To mark the centenary of the legendary filmmaker Satyajit Ray, SIFF has also planned the screening of a 4K restoration of his Apu Trilogy.

Mitra’s film, which takes off from where the trilogy ended with Apur Sansar (1959), has already been screened at the 26th Kolkata International Film Festival, the 51st International Film Festival of India, the 18th Chennai International Film Festival and the 38th Miami Film Festival.

Featuring Arpita Pal Chatterjee, Ditipriya Roy, Sreelekha Mitra and Sabyasachi Chakraborty, the film tells the story of the sublime bond between a father, Apu, and his six-year-old son Kajol. The film also explores several interpersonal relationships.
