Veteran actor and comedian Asrani is all set to feature in a Punjabi film. The 81-year-old actor, who has acted in Hindi films for over five decades, is perhaps best known for his role as the jailor in Ramesh Sippy’s mammoth hit Sholay (1975)

Asrani has played various roles over the course of his long and varied career. From a lead actor to a supporting actor and comedian, he has played a diverse range of characters. He made his foray into Gujarati films in the 1970s and also directed a few films including Chala Murari Hero Banne (1977) and Salaam Memsaab (1979)

Actor and comedian Gurpreet Ghuggi shared an image with Asrani on Instagram with the caption, “Asrani ji first time in a Punjabi movie”.

In 2008, Asrani acted in the Punjabi film Yaariyan starring Gurdas Mann, Bhoomika Chawla and Gulshan Grover. However, his upcoming film will see Asrani returning to Punjabi films after a long hiatus.

Ghuggi’s post offered no further information about the film, so fans will have to wait and watch to know more.
