A young woman, Rani (Taapsee Pannu), stands accused of murdering her husband Rishu (Vikrant Massey).
Rani is beguiled by Hindi potboilers written by crime author Dinesh Pandit. One day, she finds herself being considered as the prime suspect after Rishu's remains are found at the site of a bomb blast. Did Rani really off Rishu or was she framed? And what does the mysterious stranger, Neel Tripathi (Harshvardhan Rane), who had a fling with Rani, have to do with everything?
The first trailer of Vinil Mathew’s Haseen Dillruba sets up an intriguing tale in which Rani and Rishu, who seem wildly attracted to one another, rush into marriage. Later, they realise that they are still discovering things about one another.
Rani, who likely meets Neel while on their honeymoon, finds herself part of a triangle. Meanwhile, the police officer in charge of Rishu’s case, who's played by Aditya Shrivastava, is convinced that Rani is behind the murder, as she defends herself using the wise words of Pandit.
Massey plays the besotted husband who seems to be hiding some secrets of his own while Rane essays the role of the rugged guide who sweeps Rani off her feet.
Written by Kanika Dhillon, the thriller reunites the writer with the Manmarziyaan (2018) star. Co-produced by T-Series and Colour Yellow Productions, Haseen Dillruba is due to be premiered on Netflix on 2 July.
