Actress Huma Qureshi has received rave reviews for her performance as Rani Bharti in Subhash Kapoor’s political drama Maharani on SonyLIV. Her co-star Amil Sial, meanwhile, is continuing his winning streak in the over-the-top (OTT) domain with yet another impressive performance.

Maharani sees the artistes go head-to-head as Rani Bharti gradually becomes the chief minister of Bihar, much to the frustration of Sial’s character, who believes he is the rightful candidate for the chair.

But not many know that there was a time when Qureshi took part in a college drama competition where Sial was one of the judges on the panel.

Recalling the incident, Sial said in a statement, “It was truly a coincidence that I happened to judge a competition Huma was participating in. As an actor, she has written an amazing journey for herself. Her hard work is commendable."

Qureshi, incidentally, won the competition. “Little did we know that our paths would cross again, and we would be doing a show together for SonyLIV. It was fantastic to share the screen with Huma; she is a treat to watch in Maharani, a show that is full of surprises,” Sial said.

Maharani also stars Sohum Shah, Sushil Pandey, Inaamulhaq and Kani Kusruti.
