Filmmaker Atanu Ghosh has announced a new project, Shesh Pata, which will star Prosenjit Chatterjee, Gargee Roy Chowdhury, Vikram Chatterjee and Rayati Bhattacharya.

Shesha Pata will mark Prosenjit’s third collaboration with the director after the National award-winning film Mayurakshi (2017) and Robibaar (2019).

In the film, Prosenjit will play a once-successful writer named Valmiki, who goes through a lot in life. Roy Chowdhury will essay the role of Medha, a woman who goes to Valmiki with some of her writing.

Vikram’s character Shounak is the sole breadwinner of his lower-middle-class family. His father used to work in the film industry but is now unemployed. The film will also explore Shounak’s romantic relationship with Deepa (Bhattacharya), amidst his struggles.

The film will deal with themes such as relationships and emotions. Speaking to Anandabazar Patrika, a Bengali daily, Ghosh stated, “We are often in debt to others; there are some people who owe us something as well.  Through this exchange, people unveil their true nature to others. The film will explore this particular theme through the story involving these four characters.”

Ghosh will start shooting for the film in September in Kolkata, Serampore and Shantipur.

The filmmaker's project Binisutoy (2019), starring Ritwick Chakraborty and Jaya Ahsan, is yet to be released.
