The Bollywood channel Utsav Gold is all set to premiere Punjabi films every month for the first time. The move is seen as a response to the growing demand for Punjabi films overseas as well as the success of the PTC Punjabi channel.

Utsav Gold shared the news on Twitter on Saturday.

Utsav Gold is part of the Star Network and has a huge library of Hindi films, from the latest blockbusters to the classics. The channel will now be premiering a blockbuster Punjabi film every month beginning from 28 February with the premiere of Subedar Joginder Singh (2018) directed by Simerjit Singh and starring Gippy Grewal. The biopic is based on the life of an Indian soldier, Joginder Singh, who laid down his life in the 1962 Sino-Indian War and was awarded the Param Vir Chakra posthumously.

The other films lined up include Manje Bistre (2017), Ardaas Karaan (2019), Nankana (2018), Manje Bistre 2 (2019) and Son of Manjeet Singh (2018), among others.

The website Bizasialive.com reported that in addition to this, Star UK also recently added the Punjabi channel Saga Hits to its digital platform Hotstar. The channel is available for viewing in the United Kingdom.
