Filmmaker Mandip Saha is currently completing the last leg of shooting for his debut film Iskabon, starring Sourav Das, Sanju, Anamika Chakraborty, Arindam Gangopadhyay and Kharaj Mukherjee.

Based on the Maoist activities in the villages of West Bengal, the film is themed on love and politics.

In the film, Das will play a political leader, Narenji. Sanju will make his debut as Lt Colonel Shib Mukherjee and Chakraborty will be seen as his love interest Golapi.

“Iskabon tells a tale of a place called Golbibi Bajar in Jangalmahal and how a local leader known as Narenji forms his own party and tries to fight for the rights of people,” said the director.

“It’s about Maoist activities, life in the village and how without the knowledge of Narenji, a love story develops within his party between Golapi and Lt Colonel Shib Mukherjee,” he added.

Apart from the elements of love and politics, revenge and hatred will also dominate the film. Iskabon is being shot on sites associated with the Naxalite movement to maintain a realistic approach.

Anindya Mukhopadhyay has composed the background score while Nachiketa Chakraborty, Answeshaa Dutta Gupta and Rupankar Bagchi have lent their voices for the songs in the film.
