In the wake of reports that Abhishek Bachchan had fractured his right hand on the set of a film in Chennai, the 45-year-old actor took to Instagram on Wednesday night to inform his fans that he was fine and returning to work.

The actor is reportedly starring in the Hindi remake of the Tamil film Oththa Seruppu Size 7 (2019).

The actor also posted a photo of himself with a cast on his right hand, which was captioned, "Had a freak accident in Chennai on the set of my new film last Wednesday. Fractured my right hand. Needed surgery to fix it! So a quick trip back home to Mumbai. Surgery done, all patched-up and casted. And now back in Chennai to resume work. As they say… The show must go on! And as my father said…. Mard ko dard nahin hota! Ok, ok, ok it hurt a little. Thank you all for your wishes and get-well-soon messages (sic)."

Many celebrities wished the actor a speedy recovery. His Housefull 3 (2016) co-star Riteish Deshmukh commented, "Get well soon my brother." Zoya Akhtar, Karan Johar, Sonali Bendre, Manish Malhotra and others hearted his post.

Oththa Seruppu Size 7, which was directed by R Parthiban, was a unique experiment in Indian cinema as it was shot in a single room, featuring only one person. The remake is also reportedly being helmed by the filmmaker.

Bachchan will be seen in Dasvi (2022) alongside Yami Gautam and Nimrat Kaur, and the Kahaani (2012) spinoff Bob Biswas.
