Actor Kamal Haasan set off to shoot for the Tamil thriller Vikram a day after Tamil Nadu went to the polls. Director Lokesh Kanagaraj on Wednesday took to Twitter to announce the commencement of the shoot.

The project marks the maiden collaboration between the veteran actor and Lokesh.

Sharing a picture of Kamal and himself on what appears to be a chartered flight, Lokesh wrote in Tamil, “Shall we start?”

Sources close to Lokesh have confirmed that the filmmaker intends to shoot some portion of the movie before the election results are announced on 2 May.

Tipped to be a gangster drama, the film features Fahadh Faasil as the antagonist. In an interview with Film Companion, Fahadh said he was looking forward to working with Kamal.

The teaser of Vikram was unveiled a few months ago and it was extremely well received.

Lokesh was last seen in the Tamil action-drama Master (2021), which starred Vijay and Vijay Sethupathi.
