Vinci Da, Jyeshthoputro, Sweater win big at Filmfare awards Bangla 2021


It was a night to celebrate for Srijit Mukherji and Kaushik Ganguly, with both filmmakers winning multiple awards.

The winners of the Filmfare awards Bangla 2021 were announced amidst a grand celebration last evening. Director Srijit Mukherji had a gala night as Vinci Da (2019) fetched him awards for Best Film and  Best Story while his Shah Jahan Regency (2019) and Gumnaami (2019) too won awards in multiple categories.

The award for Best Director went to Kaushik Ganguly for Jyeshthoputro (2019). The National award-winning director bagged two more Black Ladies for Best Screenplay for Nagarkirtan (2019) and Best Dialogue for Jyeshthoputro.

Prosenjit Chatterjee received the award for Best Actor in a Leading Role (Male) for his challenging act as Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose in Gumnaami while Riddhi Sen continued his winning spree with the Best Actor (Critics) award for his performance as a transgender in Nagarkirtan. Riddhi Sen had become the youngest to win the National award for Best Actor for the same film in 2017.

Swastika Mukherjee and Subhasree Ganguly jointly won the award for Best Actor in a Leading Role (Female) for their performances in Shah Jahan Regency and Parineeta, respectively. Jaya Ahsan, on the other hand, was bestowed with the Best Actress (Critics) award for her acts in Kaushik Ganguly’s Bijoya (2019) and Atanu Ghosh’s Robibaar (2019).

The award for Best Film (Critics) went to Atanu Ghosh for Robibaar. This is the director's third win in this category. in 2013, he had won for Rupkotha Noy (2013) and in 2017 for Mayurakshi (2017).

Shieladitya Moulik’s Sweater (2019) bagged most of the music awards, including Best Music Album for Ranajoy Bhattacharaya and Anindya Chattterjee and Best Playback Singer (Female) for Lagnajita Chakraborty. Bhattacharya won the award for Best Lyrics as well.

The award for Best Playback Singer (Male) went to Anirban Bhattacharya for 'Kicchu Chaini Aami' from Shah Jahan Regency.

The late Soumitra Chatterjee and veteran filmmaker Tarun Majumder were jointly honoured with the Lifetime Achievement award.
