Godawari will be helmed by Nikhil Mahajan, who has directed films such as Pune 52 (2013) and Baji (2015). The film stars Priyadarshan Jadhav, Gauri Nalawade and Sakhi Gokhale along with veteran artists Sanjay Mone and Neena Kulkarni. The film's plot and theme have not been revealed yet.

Godawari also marks Mahajan's return to Marathi cinema after Baji, a vigilante superhero film starring Joshi, Shreyas Talpade and Amruta Khanvilkar.

He had previously directed Netflix zombie thriller Betaal (2020), which also starred Joshi in an important role.
