ALTBalaji and Zee5 have teamed up again for the upcoming crime thriller web-series Mum Bhai which will be released on both OTT platforms on 12 November.

The trailer for the web-series, which is based on the face-off between the underworld and the police in Mumbai in the 1980s, promises an overdose of action, sex and crime.

Mumbai (then Bombay) in the 1980s was in the grip of the underworld and riddled with crime. Extortion, smuggling, gang wars and sex trafficking had become commonplace. Into this scenario enters a fearless 'encounter specialist' cop Bhaskar Shetty (Angad Bedi) whose sole aim is supposedly to rid the city of the underworld.

From a waiter at a Udupi restaurant to the most feared cop in the city, Bhaskar's is a classic rags-to-power tale. In his drive to rid Mumbai of crime, he makes many friends as well as enemies. One such frenemy is Rama Shetty (Sikandar Kher). The trailer suggests that Rama and Bhaskar were friends until their paths diverged and one became a ganglord and the other, a cop. Sandeepa Dhar plays the wife of Bhaskar and seems to be an integral part of the fiasco created by these two frenemies.

While the trailer promises a lot of action and thrills, it also has the stamp of the usual run-of-the-mill gangster thrillers that are being dumped on OTT platforms. There is no novelty in the subject nor in the way the trailer has been edited. The web-series is helmed by Akshay Choubey.
