Amartya Bhattacharyya's new Bengali feature film Ketu is all set for its world premiere at the Mosaic International South Asian Film Festival (MISAFF) based in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada.

The festival, which celebrates South Asian cinema, is being held from 4 through 12 December 2020.

The topical film is a psychedelic portrait of life in isolation, as experienced in the COVID-19 pandemic-induced lockdown. It shows a character, the filmmaker (who shoots himself as ‘selfie-cinematography’), locked inside a small room in the city of Bhubaneswar in Orissa.

Bhattacharyya plays the protagonist while producer Priyanka Ghosh Roy also plays a character in the film.

Speaking about the selection of Ketu, festival director Arshad Khan said, "MISAFF is honoured to host the world premiere of Amartya Bhattacharyya’s latest film Ketu. Our audiences have always admired Bhattacharyya’s quirky and non-conformist cinema. Ketu is a timely film cognizant of the times of COVID-19 and I am in awe of how quickly Bhattacharyya turns over works that are so relevant and resonant."

Bhattacharyya said, “MISAFF is one of those rare festivals known to champion films that are courageous and alternate. My earlier films Khyanikaa and Runanubandha were also screened at past editions of the festival, and this time I'm absolutely thrilled to get an opportunity to premiere my new film Ketu at MISAFF 2020. I hope Canadian viewers will welcome a film as relevant and intense as this.”

The opening film of the festival is Deepa Mehta's Funny Boy. Films such as Deepti Gupta's Shut Up Sona (2020), Sarmad Khoosat's Circus Of Life, and Kaveh Nabatian's Without Havana are part of the line-up.
