Mismatched song ‘Kahaan Ho Tum’: Breezy Prateek Kuhad track highlights the opposite personalities of Dimple and Rishi

The original Prateek Kuhad composition sets up an unusual meeting between the two lead characters in the upcoming Netflix web-series.

What could be more millennial than Prateek Kuhad singing about the romance of the leads Dimple (Prajakta Koli) and Rishi (Rohit Saraf) from Netflix’s web-series Mismatched! The singer-songwriter has composed a romantic track about longing and finding your other half titled ‘Kahaan Ho Tum’.

The accompanying visuals of the music video show us how opposite the two actually are. Rishi is a neat, organized romantic, while Dimple is most certainly not. There is also a class divide between the two, as indicated when the two lounge around in their college spaces.

The scenes are heavily influenced by an American viewpoint of what college should look like, with the duo eating cereal for breakfast and hanging out at a fresher party where the ubiquitous red drinking cups are out in full force.

As recently as last year, Chhichhore (2019) showed us a more realistic, albeit cinematic, version of what goes on at engineering colleges. This is a far cry from that.

Kuhad’s song, however, is breezy and instantly hummable. Using a piano and guitar, Kuhad layers the track with a beautiful melody, with a chorus and whistles chiming in occasionally. It is minimalistic and appropriate for this story of a mismatched couple.

Mismatched, co-directed by Akarsh Khurana and Nipun Dharmadhikari, is due to be released on Netflix tomorrow. Watch the song video below and let us know if you are keen to watch the series.
