Director Ali Abbas Zafar, who is spending his lockdown at his new home in Deharadun, Uttarakhand, has finished writing his next film. In an interview with the daily, Mumbai Mirror, the director revealed that he is spending the lockdown writing scripts, one of which is a superhero film, starring Katrina Kaif in the lead.

“My next is a superhero film with Katrina (Kaif). Recently, I locked the script and it will go on the floors once the lockdown ends," he said. The Bharat director added that once the lockdown is over and life is back to normal, he intends to go on a recce for the film.

Elaborating on his plans about the yet-to-be-titled film, Zafar said, “There’s a lot of prep required because of the kind of action involved, and I am in touch with an international team over video calls. I’m also doing script readings with my actors and chatting with the production designer. There’s a lot happening.”

Zafar started as a director with the film, Mere Brother Ki Dulhan (2011), which starred Kaif in the lead. The actress was also part of Zafar's last two directorial ventures, Tiger Zinda Hai (2017) and Bharat (2019), which was also her last big-screen appearance.

Zafar, who has handled various genres in his films, like romantic, action, as well as sports drama, will be making a superhero film for the first time. If the project comes to fruition, it will be the first Hindi female-centric superhero film.
